Editorial standards and sourcing
This page exists so any claim on this site can be checked. It covers how we verify the maths, where our claims about game theory and solvers come from, who funds the site, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Show the arithmetic
Strategy claims on this site are meant to be checkable, not taken on trust. Where a lesson turns on a number, we show the calculation that produces it: the pot-odds fraction, the expected-value line with each branch priced, the combination count behind a range. If you cannot reproduce our number from the working shown, that is a bug in the article and we want to hear about it.
- Every worked example is checked by recomputing it independently before publication.
- Probabilities and combinatorics are stated exactly where an exact value exists, and rounded values are labelled as rounded.
- Our pot odds calculator and hand rankings trainer run the same arithmetic in the browser so you can test a claim yourself.
Sourcing
Claims about game theory, Nash equilibrium, counterfactual regret minimisation and poker AI cite the primary research directly, with the paper named and linked at the foot of the article. We do not write "studies show" or "experts say" without naming the study or the expert. Where a real source does not exist for a claim, we cut the claim rather than soften it into a vague generality.
What this site is not
- Not gambling advice. We teach the mathematics and strategy of Texas Hold'em. Nothing here is a promise of profit, and poker played for money carries real risk of loss.
- Not a real-time tool. Using software to make decisions during a live hand is cheating in any legitimate game. Everything we teach is for study away from the table.
- Not legal advice. Whether you may play for money depends on your jurisdiction, and we are not qualified to tell you.
How we are funded
- Affiliate and referral links. Some outbound links may earn us a commission. That funds the site. It never changes what we teach or which approach we recommend.

Corrections
We correct errors in place and note the change. Material corrections, meaning anything that alters a calculation or a factual claim, are marked with an updated date on the article. Email [email protected] if you find one, and include the URL and what is wrong.
